About

The Danish soprano, Katinka Bohse Meyer, is educated from Opernschule der HMDK Stuttgart and the Danish National Academy of Music with Prof. Thilo Dahlmann and Henriette Bonde-Hansen.

Her voice has been described as dark and lyrical with a warm timbre, which she has demonstrated in numerous stage roles in Denmark, Germany and Japan, such as La Contessa di Almaviva (Le Nozze di Figaro), Giulietta (Giulietta e Romeo) and Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus).

In 2025 Katinka was rewarded The-Lars-Waage-Prize for her role as Giulietta in Nicola Vaccaj’s Giulietta e Romeo at Den Fynske Opera with the words from artistic director, Eva-Maria Melbye: “Her ability to convey emotional intensity and complexity both vocally and scenically makes her a promising talent on the current Danish opera scene and bodes well for the future”.

Katinka’s operatic repertoire ranges from Mozart to contemprorary classical music with a special flair for the full lyrical soprano repertoire from composers like Puccini, Bizet and Britten. She is also an experienced concert singer of both Lied and oratorio with a focus on songs by Richard Strauss, Arnold Schönberg, Peter Heise, Clara Schumann and Amy Beach.

Together with tenor, Gustav Wenzel Most, she co-founded the opera company called Bar’Opera dedicated to broadening the reach of opera to new audiences - for instance with the chamber opera The Pet Shop at Studenterhus Odense 2022 and the opera-for-beginners concert lecture Det’ Bar’Opera! at the same place 2025.

Particularly celebrated were the Countess’s arias and Susanna’s ‘Deh vieni, non tardar’, which for many constituted the emotional highlights of the evening.”

Review: Operamagasinet Ascolta, Brian Bo Jensen

“And what singers they are! Not a finger to be placed on any of them (…) Katinka Bohse Meyer’s dark soprano lends Giulietta’s role with tenderness and pain.”

Review: CPH Culture, Michael Søby

“Giulietta  Romeo  emerges as  a  truly  enchanting bel canto  opera with  strong and  well defined  characters (...) Katinka  Bohse  Meyer’s Giiulietta  is under pressure from multiple sides,  and her frustrations are palpable both in her voice and in her body”.

iscene.dk, Eva-Maria Melbye:

“Katinka Bohse Meyer, soprano, has a fantastic voice and a captivating stage presence (...) With her talent and great skill, 27-year-old Katinka Bohse Meyer has demonstrated that, as a young opeera talent, she doesn’t only have potential but has already established a high standard”
